The COP26 summit, taking place in DEJA BLUE's home city of Glasgow, will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
COP26 goals are to: secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach; adapt to protect communities and natural habitats; mobilise finance; and work together to deliver.
The two crucial COP26 outcomes are:-
(i) finalise the Paris Rulebook (the detailed rules that make the Paris Agreement operational) and (ii) accelerate action to tackle the climate crisis through collaboration between governments, businesses and civil society.
Andrew is chairing a finance session on 27.10.21 at COPtimism, a two-day event taking place in the run up to COP26. planetSHINE has collaborated with some of the world’s leading purpose driven brands, industry leaders, global influencers, academics, and environmentalists to create this unique event. Andrew is attending a COP26 Business Breakfast in Hotel du Vin on 1.11. 21 between 9am and 10.30am. The topic for the event, hosed by N4 Partners, is Aviation in a Carbon Neutral World.
Marine engineering expert Malin Group has partnered with Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTAs) to deliver an exclusive three-day conference on shipping’s journey to fully zero emissions. This is one of several Malin Spotlight series of events. Andrew is contributing as a panel speaker in the morning session on 2.11.21.
Andrew is contributing to an interactive panel session entitled: Marine Energy – What role will the sector play in the race to net zero? at Scotland’s Marine Renewable Energy session at COP26.
The panel comprises experts in finance, internationalisation, testing and development. The session, at The Lighthouse, will examine the role of marine energy among more established technologies and the huge opportunities for investment.
Running as part of Scotland’s Climate and Ambition Zone programme for COP26, the Marine Energy Panel is being hosted by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Wave Energy Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International between 2pm and 5pm on the afternoon of 2.11.21.

Andrew is co-chairing a Net-zero Technology Collaborations Event at Wood's COP26 Events Hub between 9am and 12noon on 3.11.21. This will focus on the challenge of developing and commercialising novel technologies that will support net zero targets.
Aker Horizons and Xynteo are organising a high-level discussion on how we can best mobilise private and public capital to accelerate climate solutions. This will be a grand event showcasing key solutions in an interactive manner.
Andrew is attending this panel discussion at the South Rotunda on 3.11.21 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
The topic is the role of private and public capital in accelerating climate solutions.
Andrew is participating in a full day event hosted by Unitrove on 5.11.21. He is chairing the opening session and is a panelist in the discussion and Q&A taking place to close the event.
Greenbackers are presenting their #26ForCOP26 cohort of Cleantech Ventures at a 'SuperPitch' Event on 9.11.21. These ventures are all seeking to move the needle on climate change with their innovative solutions. This group of 26 were chosen from hundreds of applicants and have been deemed “investment ready” by the Greenbackers team.
The program, where guests can meet the group and the investors supporting them, will be hosted live from the Technology and Innovation Centre at Strathclyde University between 3pm and 9pm, and live-streamed (webcast) between 4pm and 9pm.
Bertrand Piccard, Swiss explorer, psychiatrist and environmentalist, and Ivan McKee MSP, Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise, will be in attendance in person to deliver key note addresses.
